Established in 1992, our laboratory conducts research in a wide range of areas in speech processing. We focus on developing quantitative models of human speech perception and production mechanism and using these models to improve the performace of speech-processing applications.

Our projects foster cross-disciplinary activities in the Engineering, Coputer Science, Graduate School of Education and Inormation Science, Radiology, Linguistics, Head and Neck Surgery, and Neurosurgery Departments at UCLA with researchers at the House Ear Institute.
