UCLA Hannah Carter Japanese Garden – located one mile from campus on 10619 Bellagio Road, Bel-Air. This authentic Kyoto-style garden, a private gift to UCLA, is considered one of the most notable Japanese gardens in the United States. Many structures in the garden, including the main gate, garden house, bridges and shrine, were built in Japan and reassembled here. (Hours 10am-3pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Free admission. UCLA Powell Library - located North campus south of Royce Hall. The library opened in 1929 as one of the first four building on the Westwood campus, the library features a 63 foot high interior dome supported by interlaced trusses with intricately painted ceiling panels. The octagonal tower resembles the Church of St. Sepolcro in Bologna, Italy, and the main entrance is based on the church of San Zenove in Verona, Italy. Guided tours of Powell library are available. UCLA Fowler Museum of Cultural History – located near Royce Quad (the four original buildings of UCLA). Established in 1963, the Fowler Museum showcases art and material culture from Asia, Africa and the Americas. Opened Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 5pm (until 8pm on Thursday), free admission. UCLA Armand Hammer Museum of Art and Cultural Center (10899 Wilshire Blvd) – located in Westwood Village, within walking distance from campus, the Hammer Museum primarily exhibits Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings as well as contemporary art. UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame – located in the J. D. Morgan Center, east of Pauley Pavilion, central campus. UCLA has won 100 NCAA championships, and since 1976 no school can match UCLA's record of Olympians and Olympic medals won by its present and former athletes. The Getty Center (1200 Getty Center Drive) – located in the nearby Santa Monica Mountains, the Getty Center hosts the J. Paul Getty Museum which features European paintings, sculptures and decorative arts as well as European and American photographs from the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition, visitors can enjoy the unique architectural design of the buildings as well as the gardens which feature a natural ravine and hosts more than 500 plant varieties. Third Street Promenade – located in Santa Monica, just a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean.
