As you already know, UCLA is among the finest institutions of higher education worldwide, and the UCLA Electrical Engineering Department is a leader in its field. You should be proud of your accomplishment.

The electrical engineering discipline is setting the foundations for today's information society, and is literally changing the way we live our lives. By joining UCLA Electrical Engineering, you will become part of a dynamic program that is at the forefront of research and education in the field. An EE education will prepare you to be a real thinker and a creator of ideas that bring the impossible closer to reality.

Look around you and observe how our lives have been impacted in recent years by advances in technology. Many of these advances have emanated from the creative minds of electrical engineers, such as developments in wireless communications, smart electronic devices, medical imaging systems, satellite communications, DSL and applications over the Internet. These inventions are helping bring the world closer together and are impacting our quality of life in ways never imagined before.

Many more advances await your creative mind, such as the blending of biology and electronics, the blending of the real world with the virtual world, the development of powerful multimedia communications, and connecting the world through tiny sensors.
