How to Apply for Admission to the Graduate Program

The application may not be submitted before September 1 or after December 15 in order to be considered for acceptance for the next school year. Note that the UCLA Electrical Engineering Department accepts applications for the Fall Quarter only.

Applications are available online ONLY. Paper copies are NOT AVAILABLE.

The application process for acceptance to the UCLA Electrical Engineering graduate program:

  • The first step is to electronically submit the online application, which includes your academic history and the application fee (also paid electronically). Note that the application fee is US $70 for U.S. citizens and permanent residents. The application fee is US $90 for international students.

The information you present to the UCLA Graduate Division through this application process is then made available to the Electrical Engineering Department.

The online application comes with complete instructions and further information.

  • The second step of the application process requires you to submit, in hardcopy, transcripts from all academic institutions from which you earned a bachelor's degree (or higher) and any institution at which graduate level coursework was taken directly to the UCLA Electrical Engineering Department, to the following address:

Electrical Engineering Department
Office of Student Affairs
420 Westwood Plaza
57-127 Engineering IV Building
University of California, Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA 90095-1594
U.S.A.

Attention: Admissions Coordinator

You are also required to make arrangements to have your GRE scores forwarded to the Department. Note that international students will need to also arrange for their TOEFL/IELTS scores to be sent to the Department.

All other required documents are to be filed electronically together with the application for admission.

Finally, please do not email the department to verify if materials have been received. The Office of Student Affairs will email you if your application is incomplete or if any documents are missing.
