Nicolaos Alexopoulos, Adjunct Professor National Academy of Engineering, 2007 Biography Professor Alexopoulos is Dean of Engineering at UC Irvine and Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at UCLA. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Elecrical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1965, 1967, and 1968, respectively. Research Interests Professor Alexopoulos is interested in electromagnetic theory, integrated microwave circuits, micro strip antennas and arrays, multi-function antennas, non-reciprocal materials, numerical methods, and percolation theory and applications. His research activities focus on the modeling and design of three-dimensional integrated circuits and printed antennas in multilayered materials, wireless communication antennas and systems. He also is studying interconnect problems in complex networks, novel materials and smart structures in low observable systems, and computational methods. The applications for his research lie in the development of wireless communication networks that will extend the reach and capacity of the Internet.
