Biography
Paul K.C. Wang received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 1955 and 1956, respectively. He earned the Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1960. He has been a member of the UCLA Electrical Engineering Department faculty since 1967.

Prof. Wang is an IEEE Senior Life Member. He is also a member of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the American Mathematical Society, and the American Physical Society.

Research Interests
Professor Wang's research is in the area of control systems, especially control of distributed-parameter systems described by nonlinear partial differential equations with applications to micro-optoelectromechanical systems such as micromachined deformable mirrors for adaptive optics and miniature imaging devices. His current research interests are in the modeling, coordination, control, and self-organization of multi-agent systems with applications to spacecraft formations and multiple autonomous micro-robots. Ongoing projects include the modeling and control of nonlinear micro-distributed systems, coordination and control of multiple microspacecraft in formation, and the experimental study of multiple optically linked levitated vehicles via rule-based controls.
