UCLA Electrical Engineering student Jean Paul Santos was recently awarded the DoD sponsored prestigious Science Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Fellowship. The SMART Fellowship also provides the scholar a unique opportunity to work for many one-of-a-kind world-class DoD facilities as an intern as well as a full-time research engineer after graduation.

Jean Paul Santos is studying under Prof. Subramanian Iyer and has been conducting research on electrically small antennas and their integration into smart systems within the CHIPS framework. The integration of smart antennas into IoT based systems has widespread applications in both military and consumer applications and JP is excited to be able work in this important area.
