Graduating PhD student Zhi Quan (A. H. Sayed, advisor) is awarded the 2009 Outstanding Ph.D. Student Award in Electrical Engineering. His PhD thesis is entitled: "Cooperative Spectrum Sensing for Cognitive Radios".

Undergraduate student Jeffrey K. Akamine is awarded the 2009 Outstanding B.S. Student Award in Electrical Engineering.
Graduate student Kevin Kin-Man Tsia (Bahram Jalali, advisor), is awarded the 2009 Harry M. Showman Prize from HSSEAS.
