Associate Professor Aydogan Ozcan is Elected Fellow by SPIE

AydoganOzcanAssociate Professor Aydogan Ozcan is elected Fellow by the Society of Photo-optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) for his seminal contributions in pursuit of photonics based telemedicine technology.  His extensive research on the subject has attracted tremendous interests and recognitions from both the academia, government and the industry.  

SPIE is the premiere international photonics society which serves scientists and engineers in industry, academia, and government working in a wide variety of fields that utilize some aspect of optics and photonics, the science and application of light.

Professor Ozcan will receive the recognition at the Photonics West conference in San Francisco which opens on February 2, 2013.  The Photonics West Conference is one of the top five conferences of the SPIE.

Recently Professor Ozcan and the Ozcan research team had another major breakthrough in detecting virus and other nanoscale objects through lensfree microscopy. The results are published in Nature Photonics and featured on UCLA Newsroom.
