Dee-Son Pan received the B.S. degree in physics from National Tsing-Hwa University, Taiwan, R.O.C., in 1971. After two years of military service, he joined the Physics Department at the California Institue of Technology with a fellowship in 1973, where he received the Ph.D. degree in physics in 1978. Dr. Pan joined the faculty of the Electrical Engineering Department in 1977, where he is now a full professor. Prof. Pan is a member of IEEE and Sigma Xi.
Professor Pan's early research activities were in the areas of electronic excitation and electronic transport in various semiconductors, quantum well infrared detectors, resonant tunneling diodes, and high frequency limitations of semiconductor devices. His recent research interests are in a number of new high-frequency devices (millimeter wave to THz) and various lower frequency rf device modeling for HBTs and LDMOS.
