Tiny optical frequency clock measures time accurately to 270 quintillionths of a second

Prof. Chee Wei Wong’s work on the silicon-based precision laser oscillators was recently published in Science Advances. This achieves the most precise chip-scale laser clock in the world — till date.  The timing imprecision is down to 270 quintillionths of a second, helpful for analog-to-digital conversion, GPS, navigation, imaging and metrology.
