Arash Behzad was a Visiting Scholar at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from April 2008 to April 2009, whose research involved IEEE
802.11 wireless local area network (LAN) integrated systems, communications and telecommunications
networked systems, power controlled medium access control (MAC) in wireless networks, combinatorial
optimization, and combinatorics with emphasis on graph theory. He received the Ph.D. degree from UCLA in 2004 and was a Senior Systems Design
Scientist at Broadcom Corporation. He also has a background in management sciences and operations research and holds
a M.Sc. degree from Sharif University of Technology.
  Dr. Behzad was the recipient of the Best Paper Award in the area of operations research
and the Best Overall Paper Award at the Third National
Conference of Industrial Engineering in 1996.
He was also a recipient of the University of California
MICRO fellowship for innovative research in microelectronics technology during the academic year 2000-2001. He received
the Outstanding Achievement Award from the
Association of Professors
and Scholars of Iranian Heritage in 2004 and was nominated for the
Outstanding Ph.D. Student Award for the
academic year 2004–2005. He was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the
Institute of Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS), and the
American Mathematical Society (AMS).
 
He holds a few issued and
pending patents on the above-mentioned
research topics and has served as a technical reviewer for various conferences and publications. These publications include IEEE Transactions on
