From LA to Indiana

Pacific Highway :

Pacific highway, which wanders along the Pacific Ocean , offers fabulous scenes.

One of the Ocean bays we encountered on the way.

San Francisco Bay :

In the two days we stay at SF, the weather is mostly gloomy. SF bay is covered by heavy clouds

Here is another look of the SF bay.

Golden Gate Bridge :

Even the famed GGB is covered by a white cloak.

Lake Tahoe :

Lake Tahoe is located on the border of California and Nevada . Given its stunning beauty, we wondered why it was not designated as a national park. Besides its water, Tahoe is also a ski resort. Shown below is its Emerald Bay .

While driving on the shore of Lake Tahoe , you can stop practically at any spot and never fail to find a great view.

You can also rent a kayak, boat or yacht, and go straight into the water.

Grand Teton National Park

Grand Teton National Park is to the south of Yellowstone . We took a cursory tour of this less well-known park.

Yellowstone National Park

There are several things to see at Yellowstone :

1) Bison: is a buffalo like animal. Despite their benign appearance, bisons often unexpectedly jump onto the highway and cause traffic havoc. We met them several times on the road.

2) Various thermal features: geyser, hot springs and mud pools.

3) If you have never been to Grand Canyon, Yellowstone offers a grand canyon of its own. The two waterfalls there are quite impressive too.

4) Creeks, meadows, and forests combine to a serene picture of mother nature.

Bighorn National Forest

Out of Yellowstone ’s east entrance is the bighorn national forest.

Mountain Rushmore

We were happy to find out that Mountain Rushmore was only a 23 mile detour from Rapid City , where we lodged.
