Academic Experiences

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Developed a theoretical framework named as Max-Min Fairness bandwidth allocation at the MAC layer in wireless ad hoc networks to allocate max-min fair capacity for each active link. This work has been cited by more than 50 journal articles, conference proceedings and book chapters, such as “Collision Avoidance Protocols” in “Ad Hoc Networks: Technologies and Protocols” (ISBN: 0-387-22689-3).

University of California, Los Angeles

Modeled and provided optimization methods for the activation of sensor nodes to minimize the reproduction distortion incurred during sensing and communications networking processes under communications capacity and energy resource constraints.

Derived an analytical method to calculate the bit-per-joule performance in ad hoc networks with or without the formation of a mobile backbone, and subsequently analyzed the proper distance threshold level to be used for maximizing the bit-per-joule performance level for multihop mobile backbone networks.

Designed an on-demand distance aware routing scheme for Mobile Backbone Networks and analyzed the proper distance threshold level to make efficient use of network-wide capacity resources.
