Distinguished Professor Yahya Rahmat-Samii Wins EurAAP Antenna Award Presented at EuCAP 2026 Conference in Dublin

On April 21, 2026, Distinguished Professor Y. Rahmat-Samii of the UCLA Electrical and Computer Engineering Department was announced as the winner of the EurAAP Antenna Award by the European Association on Antennas and Propagation at the 20th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), held in Dublin, Ireland, from April 19–24, 2026, and attended by more than 1,500 participants worldwide. This prestigious award recognizes lifetime achievements and honors exceptional contributions to antenna research and education, as well as leadership in fostering international collaboration and advancing research networks across Europe and beyond. As the association’s highest distinction, it is presented annually at the EuCAP conference. Professor Rahmat-Samii received the award with the citation: “Global leadership in antenna research, pioneering contributions to space and reflector antennas and optimization methods, and his dedicated mentorship within the European School of Antennas.” He had previously been recognized as the program’s best teacher among all instructors. In addition, Professor Rahmat-Samii delivered an invited presentation, co-authored with his former PhD student Dr. V. Manohar, titled “Toward Smarter Phase Retrieval in Antenna Near-Field Measurements: A Machine Learning Approach for Seed Prediction.”
