Professors Stanley Osher, Aydogan Ozcan and Kang Wang (left to right) of UCLA’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering were named to the annual Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers list in 2021 on Nov. 16.

In its annual list of Highly Cited Researchers, Clarivate named three faculty members of UCLA’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering to its 2021 edition on Nov. 16. ECE professors Stanley Osher, Aydogan Ozcan and Kang Wang were all identified as Highly Cited Researchers for 2021.

The list, created by Clarivate’s Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), identified 6,602 researchers from over 70 countries ranking among the top 1% for peer citations by discipline during the past decade. Clarivate’s annual list recognizes experts in their respective fields for demonstrating exceptional broad and compelling influence through the publication of highly cited papers.

Osher, a distinguished professor of mathematics, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, and chemical and biomolecular engineering, has been among the ISI’s Most Highly Cited Researchers since being named to the institute’s inaugural list in 2002.

Ozcan, the chancellor’s professor of electrical and computer engineering, bioengineering and the Volgenau Chair for Engineering Innovation, has also been recognized by Clarivate for his innovation and for his research group.

Wang, distinguished professor of electrical and computer engineering, materials science and engineering and the Raytheon Chair in Electrical Engineering, has been a global leader in nanotechnology and a member of UCLA’s faculty since 1979.

Osher, Ozcan and Wang are among 13 scholars from the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering and more than 40 overall from across the campus to be named to the prestigious list.
