The Los Angeles Bioscience Ecosystem Summit 2021 (LABEST 2021) formally known as the UCLA Bioscience Innovation Day will be held from Tuesday, May 25 – Thursday, May 27, 2021. Hundreds of researchers, biopharma companies, investors, startups and institutions will participate in this event. This year the event will be hosted virtually through the vFairs Virtual Conference Platform.
UCLA’s Technology Development Group (TDG) is currently accepting submissions for the Pearl Cohen Poster Award Competition ($250 – $750 cash prizes) which is a unique opportunity to showcase your bioscience research to industry leaders, entrepreneurs and investors. All accepted submissions will be displayed during the digital Poster Plaza Session, which will be arranged by therapeutic area, with three presentation timeslots (complimentary admission is included for the lead author). Poster Award judges will include leading biopharma companies Amgen, Kite Pharma, Genentech, Allogene Therapeutics and Alexandria Venture Investments. Award winners will be announced during the event.
Poster Submission Timeline
- Monday, April 26, 2021: Submission deadline for digital bioscience posters to be included in the Pearl Cohen Poster Award Competition. The poster can be in the form of a slide deck (5-7 slides) or a PDF.
- Please submit a copy of your final poster (PORTRAIT format highly recommended for static PDF) or slide deck to pooja.bhayani@tdg.ucla.edu and CC dmayhew@tdg.ucla.edu with POSTER SUBMISSION in the subject header.

- Monday, May 10, 2021: Submission deadline for the poster pitch recording.

LABEST 2021 is a premier showcase for bioscience innovation in Los Angeles county. This event is a collaboration with colleagues from across the county to present promising academic research, entrepreneurial faculty investigators, as well as local startup companies. It is intended to promote awareness of the growing life science ecosystem in Los Angeles and to foster partnerships between UCLA faculty and the biotechnology and life science industry.
