Wenzhong Yan receives Harry M. Showman prize for effectively communicating research

Wenzhong Yan is one of the two graduate winners of the Harry. M. Showman Prize for 2021-2022. This award honors students for their effective communication on research to the communities and the public.

Yan has developed a new design and fabrication strategy to create autonomous robots purely from the origami-inspired cut-and-fold process without requiring semiconductor-based electronics. He has effectively communicated his research through academic paper writing, conference oral presentation, and poster demonstration. Yan recently published his work in the top robotics journal, Soft Robotics. He also received the Best Presentation Award at the Smart Materials Workshop from the top robotics conference (the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation) and Best Student Research Demo Award from the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Robotics and its Social Impacts (ARSO).
