Dr Ozcan’s lab published a new paper in Nature Communications on an optoelectronic neuron array that achieves broadband and low-loss optical nonlinearity accessible with ambient light

Professor Babakhani’s team published a paper in IEEE Journal of Solid State Circuits on a “A 400-GHz Efficient Radiator and OOK Transceiver for Multi-Gb/s Wireless Communication in Silicon”

Dr Hamed Rahmani became an assistant professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering of NYU Tandon School of Engineering

Congratulations to Dr Hamed Rahmani on his new academic position at the Department of ECE at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. Dr Rahmani was Professor Aydin Babakhani’s Ph.D. student. He received his Ph.D. from UCLA in 2020.

Jason Wu has been awarded the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship

Jason Wu, a first year graduate student pursuing his Ph.D. in Professor Mani Srivastava’s research group, has been awarded by the Department of Defense the prestigious and highly competitive National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship. He did his undergraduate studies from our department as well. He was a student in the Fast Track Program, and was a recipient of the 2023 Outstanding Bachelor of Science Award in Electrical Engineering, Jason conducts research in the broad area of sensor information processing and sensing technology for IoT, digital twin, and cyber-physical systems.

Socal AI Reponsibility Summit

Bruin AI is hosting one of the largest student-led AI discussions in California’s history, with attending companies such as Intel, Meta, Google DeepMind, Qualtrics, and 400+ students from UCLA, USC Caltech, UCSD, and UC Berkeley, putting on stage an interdisciplinary, transparent, and free discussion about what Responsible AI means. 

The primary objective of the summit is to elevate awareness about the current AI revolution and its implications in data privacy, deep fakes, social dilemmas, and job replacement. This inaugural summit aims to build an interdisciplinary, intergenerational, and inter-school discussion initiative to foster a transparent discussion platform.
