Celebrate UCLA Samueli Class of 2020!

The ECE Department is excited to share with you that UCLA’s School of Engineering’s 2020 Virtual Commencement planning is well underway.

In lieu of an in-person ceremony at Pauley Pavilion, our virtual commencement will air on our Commencement Website at 12:30 p.m. PDT on Saturday, June 13.  You will also be able to watch the ceremony on the Samueli YouTube channel or via our Facebook page.  The ceremony will feature various traditional elements including the national anthem, the student speaker Imani Chantal Elston (Civil and Environmental Engineering) and individualized slides of our graduates who registered for the ceremony.

We are also excited to announce our 2020 Commencement Speaker will be Jason Droege, who was Uber’s vice president of Uber Everything and helped launch the popular Uber Eats.  Jason was one of our students in computer science before becoming a successful entrepreneur.  Details of the commencement are being finalized, but you will be able to watch the ceremony in its entirety or to select the various chapters of the program, such as individual department degree-conferrals and congratulatory video messages from faculty and alumni.

In the the week leading up to the commencement, we hope you will join us in celebrating our graduates by sharing a note of encouragement, a piece of advice and congratulations for their great achievements. Visit our Class of 2020 Kudoboard to leave a message for our graduates. We encourage you to include your UCLA department in your post.

There are also various social media activities and a senior class virtual sendoff designed to honor our graduates who have gone through so much this year to earn their degrees during the unprecedented pandemic. Please feel free to share your warm wishes on social media for our Class of 2020 by using these Samueli images and include #EngineerTogether and #UCLA2020.
